First post.

First blog post before I leave for Washington D.C. in a few days. I'm sitting on the couch with my brother, and have been debating what to call this blog. My Life in DC will have to do for now!

I've been meaning to create this blog for a while because I think it will serve as a great way to keep in contact with everyone over what I'm sure will be an exciting but busy 9 weeks. I hope that I can post updates here about what I'm doing, and share interesting and fun stories with you all!

Currently though, I don't have much to say. This week has been slightly exhausting, trying to prepare to leave early Saturday morning and also fit in all the friends I want to see before I leave. I've realized this week especially, though, how truly blessed I am, and how amazing the gift of life really is. I am SO grateful for everyone in my life and how they've helped me to where I am today. I just feel surrounded by amazing people that are constantly lifting me up and inspiring me to be better. Today I am so thankful for all of you.

I am immensely excited to work in D.C. for 9 weeks for the pro-life cause, and to get to know Students for Life. I cannot wait to meet my host family (I'll be living in Leesburg, VA, a little bit of a commute from the District), and all the other interns. This opportunity is such a blessing and I can't wait for what it has in store.

But for now, I'm just thankful to be here :) Taking breaths. Sipping ice cold water with my dog laying at my feet. About to curl up for a good night's sleep, and going to morning mass and breakfast with two dear friends tomorrow. Life is a gift. I hope this summer to learn even better how to live in the present, and appreciate every experience for what it is.
